Bear and Bee
Big Emotions
by Liz Forsberg
Big feelings are easier with a friend.
Who we are
Liz Forsberg writes stories for the smallest readers in the room. Chris Forsberg wins Formula Drift championships. Somewhere between a keyboard and a paddock, the two things met — and became a foundation that puts books in kids' hands.
The storyteller
Liz writes the quiet ones. Bear and Bee is about feelings that arrive far too big for the small body holding them. The Sand Monkey's Secret is about a promise kept between a girl, her grandma and the dunes.
Both are written for the same reader: someone little, sitting close, still learning that a book can hold what they feel. That's the whole job, as she sees it — put the right words in front of a child early enough that reading feels like being understood, not being tested.
She's also the founder of Driven to Read, the foundation that grew out of what this family was already doing at the racetrack: handing books to kids.
Written small, on purpose.

The Story of Forceby Chris Forsberg
The champion
Three Formula Drift championships. A Nissan Z that spends its working life sideways. And, somewhere in between, a picture book about a cat.
The Story of Force follows a little rescue cat with an enormous dream — to race — written by someone who knows exactly what wanting something that badly feels like. It ends the only way it could: never give up, never stop dreaming.
Copies go out at the track, where kids who have never met a book about their favourite driver suddenly own one. That small moment at the merch tent is where the whole foundation came from.
Racing meets reading
At the track
On the page
Nobody wins on the first lap.
Nobody reads on the first page.
You go out again. And again. And again.
You sound it out again. And again. And again.
Never give up.
Never stop dreaming.
Grit is a skill. It just needs somewhere to practise.
Where to next
Meet the books, or meet the mission.
Three stories written for preschool through 2nd grade, and one foundation trying to get them into as many small hands as possible.
